Live at St. Joseph Village Board, June 13, 2023

No one is here in the audience. Are you all watching on Youtube?

Anyway… Jim Wagner isn’t here, neither is Max Painter. So they are down three trustees.

Thanks to MX Electric for sponsoring our live blogs.

Terri Cummings thanking Debbie Routh, the staff and Public Works for all they did for Taste of St. Joseph. They did do a great job! So many hours went into the event.

Terri Cummings thanking Debbie Routh, the staff and Public Works for all they did for Taste of St. Joseph. They did do a great job! So many hours went into the event.

They also thanked me and the chamber but honestly, all I did was ask people to participate. Debbie and Ashley in the main office took this all on did a tremendous job!

Art wants the purchase of the John Deere 1025R tabled until the full board is here. I think it’s a tractor that will be used a plow sidewalks, ect. Art isn’t sure it’s the best value, ect.

Luke seems a little miffed that Art is questioning their recommendation because they did a lot of research, found something under budget ect. and the bid is only good for a few more days.

Joe saying it does have multiple uses.

It will not pull the roller, Mike just said.

Tami saying that Luke and Mike did their homework, are following the equipment replacement plan, ect. and their recommendation should be acted on.

Joe saying they always have the option not to plow. That would go over like a lead balloon.

Art reiterating that he wants to wait for the full board.

No one makes a motion.

Terri makes a motion to purchase it.

Tami, Davis and Cummings vote yes. Art just voted yes too.

Clark Dietz GIS implementation proposal.

Here’s what the consortium is. https://www.ccgisc.org/

Solar Array Discussion. Tami stressing this is just for discussion. Leasing versus purchasing. I think this is the discussion about them putting this on the sewer plant, ect. Piatt County is discussing doing this too. It must be the hip new thing with municipalities.

These panels would be set up on large concrete.

Tami saying she leans towards leasing because it is less of a gamble.

Public Works saying Taste and Our Town went perfect and a lot of people were out. They sold around 270 tickets.

Discussing Electric Aggregation. YOU NEED TO OPT OUT! She cannot stress this enough. Fill out the yellow card and OPT OUT so you can get a cheaper rate.

Tiffany said it took her 27 minutes to Opt out over the phone. MAIL THE YELLOW CARD IN.

Here’s the story explaining what happened.

Year-end legislation update: They were able to get state income money. The legislature passed a bill to increase prevailing wage and added jobs that fall under the prevailing wage act including sledge haulers. They are also passing a state building code which could affect the village. All employees and elected officials have to do a cyber security training online. Meeting adjourned.
