Live at St. Joseph Village Board, Oct. 11, 2022

We are live at village board.

The news everyone is waiting for. Halloween Trick or Treat hours are Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The mayor is having her annual Halloween Parade Saturday, Oct. 29 at 10 a.m. The parade starts at village hall and she leads the children around to the downtown businesses. It’s super fun and cute. Be there or be square.

Art wants to have the village look at investing in banks outside of town for better interest rates. They are going to explore it and information will be presented at the December board meeting.

DIscussing bills. Don’t worry, they paid them.

JIm Wagner signs and graphics are presenting a check for $1500 to the Booker Family. The money is from the funds raised from Tshirts, ect. That the Wagner’s sold to honor Ross Booker.

The Women’s Club is here to discuss the Christmas Parade. It will take place on Dec. 10 at 6 p.m. Line up starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Middle School. It ends at the High School. Golf carts, utility vehicles, tractors, carts and floats are welcome to join.

A resident sent an email asking for a sidewalk to be installed in front of their house.

We have circled back to the golf cart ordinance. Art said it is hard to legislate responsibility. Aint that the truth?

Bascially, it’s the same conversation from last time. How will they enforce it? What sort of permitting? It would be allowed from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Max seems frustrated that they can’t enforce it but have ordinances, ect. #truestory

A few village trustees and staff want to just trash the ordinance and let people do what they want but… I don’t think they can do that because state statute says you can’t drive it on the road. Tami just said you have to have the ordinance to allow golf carts.

Tami wants them to follow up with Mark to see what the state requires of them.

Here’s some helpful information on golf carts in the state of Illinois.

They are approving a rural subdivision request. If you own land within so many miles of the village and want to subdivide it you need village permission.

Leaf Pick Up is starting next week. Next month is the last brush pick up. (This is a note to myself to take my brush out to the curb at the start of the month!)

Discussing the cost of leaf pick up, what they do with all the leaves, where the leaves go, ect.

“We have a massive quantity of leaves,” Luke said.

The longest meeting of my life was a committee meeting where they discussed getting rid of the leaf pickup. This is a very clear example of the work the village does for its residents. It’s one of the best public relations tool for the village because they can clearly point to it as a service they provide for its residents.

The mayor discussing the CIMOA meeting at Monticello they will be attending.

meeting adjourned.
