I am here. I am the only one in the audience.
Here’s some big news if you missed it. https://www.stjosephrecord.com/2022/09/13/village-expected-to-accept-bid-for-boy-scout-building/
Three people are in attendance now! #crowded #justkidding #publicparticipationiscool
No public comment. #WHEREARETHESEWERPEOPLE
The boy scout building was shown to six different people. One person submitted a bid. That person was Roche Cain and his wife Heather. Art made a motion to decline the bid. Max seconded the motion.
I honestly can’t believe they are motioning to decline it. Art is declining it because the offer was for half what it was appraised for, he felt the appraisal was low and he wants to list it with a realtor.
I cannot believe they are even discussing this. I personally thought the appraisal was very high considering 13 years ago I was told to watch where I stepped on the floor because you could fall through it.
Terri Cummings points out that Roche is going to do upgrades which is important. Art says people will be mad if they sell it for $10,000. I don’t think anyone cares. As a taxpayer, I am kinda annoyed they kept it this long.
Max said he wanted to be on the right side of history and not accept a bid that was too low.
Here’s a reminder: https://www.stjosephrecord.com/2022/08/05/village-accepting-bids-for-boy-scout-building/
Roche’s here and saying that he will have to put $50,000 to $75,000 into the building. Honestly, that’s probably being conservative.
The appraisal came back at $20,000. No business person in their right mind is going to pay that.
Cummings No
Raap Yes
Wagner No
Van Buskirk No
Painter Yes
Davis No
Motion fails 4-2.
Wagner motioned to accept the bid. Van Buskirk motioned to accept the bid and direct Joe and the lawyers to work out a contract with Roche. The motion passed 4-2. Just flip it from above. #rightchoice #nolongermytaxdollarspayingforit #dontchangetheexterioriuseitforseniorphotos
Discussing turning the basketball courts at the sports complex to pickleball courts. It will be discussed during the budget season next march. Max wants to discuss building an actual pickleball court. Put that at Kolb in that open field.
Discussing who is going to IML. They will leave on Thursday.
There is a 30-day waiting period for them to demolish a building. The village administrator won’t say which property but I am assuming it’s the yellow house by the rail trail.
The business that came out when tree fell but didn’t complete the job in 2020 has filed bankruptcy and has listed St. Joseph as owing them $5,000. The village will be fighting it in court.
The mayor will be having her annual Halloween Parade. Tentatively scheduled for October 29. More details TBD. The IGA may be doing a trunk or treat more details TBD.
Tami is saying if you put something on FB don’t expect the staff to respond. If you have a concern or complaint they need to contact the village or talk to the appropriate staff. Or come to a meeting on Second and Fourth Tuesdays of every month at 7 p.m. at Village Hall.
A resident emailed Luke asking for clarification on the sewer repairs on Evergreen. He’s explaining how the village isn’t paying for residential repairs.
Just to clarify the St. Joseph Community Page is not the village page. The public works page is for informational purposes only.
Luke is saying public works doesn’t have any information about sewer bills. Those issues need to be addressed to the village office.
Motion to adjourn.
