The St. Joseph-Ogden High School soccer team jumped out to a commanding lead during Tuesday afternoon’s nonconference home match against Argenta-Oreana.
Then, the Spartans needed some late heroics. Enter Spenser Wilson.
With the match tied, Wilson scored with two-tenths of a second left to lift SJO to a dramatic 3-2 win. The Spartans improved to 2-0 on the young season ahead of a 4:30 p.m. home match on Thursday against Uni High.
Greer Jackson gave SJO an early 1-0 lead with a goal off an assist from Will Page. The score remained that way heading into the second half before Wilson made it 2-0 with his first goal of the match off an assist from Jackson.
But A-O responded with two goals to tie the match before Wilson came through. Hunter Ketchum finished with eight saves in net for the Spartans.
