Wakefield wants to serve community

Allison Wakefield knows Ogden.

Wakefield has lived in the community for more than 18 years and is now raising her own family in the town she loves.

“I am proud to raise my three kids here and am modeling for them what it means to be involved in their community,” she said.

Wakefield moved to Ogden in 2002 so her father could become pastor of the local church.

She moved to Champaign after getting married but moved back less than a year later.

“I love it so much here,” she said.

Currently, she serves on the Ogden Rose Library Board and said she enjoys serving her community.

Serving her community is why Wakefield is running for village board on April 6.

Wakefield said if elected she plans to support her fellow board members and mayor with the village’s currently projects as well as helping the community continue to be a place that residents are proud to live.

Wakefield has been attending village board meetings and said she would love to see the community become more involved in the meetings.

“Please come to a board meeting or read the minutes on the website,” she said. “Our community needs to be aware

of what our Village board is doing for us. It is our home so we need to let the board hear what we think

needs done to make our community better.”

Wakefield said she anticipates the most rewarding part of being a trustee will be being apart of a board that loves its community and is working to make positive change and it will then be gratifying to see the changes take place and see how they impact her fellow residents.

Wakefield said the most challenging part will be joining a board with long-term members, however she anticipates they would be welcoming and open to a fresh perspective.

Wakefield said she hopes her fellow residents know that she would be open to hearing their ideas and concerns.

“I honestly just want my community to know I am there for them,” she said.
