Weekend Family Fun Guide

Every weekend we pick at least three events that we think are can’t miss for families in this area.

June 15
Pizza with Woody and Buzz
11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
208 West Curtis Road, Savoy

$10 at the door.
Includes a meet and greet with Woody and Buzz from Toy Story, all you can eat pizza and soda buffet, skating, skate rental, skate mates and pictures with Woody and Buzz.

Strawberry Jam
4-9 p.m.
Meadowbrook Park
2808 S. Race Street, Urbana

Summer is a time to take it slow and easy. Enjoy musical performances by local musicians and taste fresh strawberries over ice cream (while supplies last). This year is the district’s 30th Strawberry Jam event, and blast-from-the-past activities will include: hayrack rides around Meadowbrook Park, tour of Spomer Prairie, face painting, dancing with the Urbana Country Dancers, kite flying, stargazing with the CU Astronomy Club, and more! Overflow parking is available at Stone Creek Church at the corner of Windsor Road and Race Street. Golf cart transport will be available as needed.

June 16
Harvest Moon’s 5th Annual Kids’ Carnival for St. Jude
5:30 p.m. to midnight
Harvest Moon Twin Drive-In Theatre
1175 Sangamon Ave., Gibson City

Join the theatre on Father’s Day 2019, June 16th, for their 5th annual carnival benefiting St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

After it gets dark and the theatre shuts down the games and extras and has ‘The Secret Life of Pets 2’ and ‘Aladdin’ on screen 1 and ‘Men in Black: International’ and ‘Godzilla: King of Monsters’ on screen 2 for all the families to enjoy.

Games start at just 50 cents . Games include Dino Dig, Duck Pond, Fishing Pond, spin to win wheel, bozo buckets, balloon pop, zombie shooting gallery and break a plate.  Event also includes pedal cars, free train rides, free carousel rides, the theatre’s baby Ferris wheel and more.

Expert face painting and a bounce house will also be available for the children to enjoy.

Cost: Regular admission rates- $7 for 12 and older, $6 for kids 4-11 and little kids under 4 are free.
