Get to know Lindsay Rubach

Lindsay is running for the St. Joseph Grade School Board.

What motivated you to run for school board?
As an Educator for more than 20 years, I have dedicated my career to the growth and success of
students. I had long considered running for the School Board and this year, I was asked about
running by two current members and decided to take the leap.


What are your short term goals for the district?
My short term goal for the district would be to evaluate where we are with district goals and
continue to work towards those goals in an efficient and productive manner, while keeping an ear
out to the community’s wants and needs.


What are your long term goals?
My true long term goal for District #169 is to move past being proficient in our academic standings
and dig into data to find our growth opportunities and see meaningful growth across the entire
district and its subgroups.


Where would you like to see the district at in ten years?
In 10 years, I see St. Joseph Schools being a district that students and families are proud to be a
part of, and being both fiscally and academically sound.


What Is one thing you would change about the schools in St. Joseph?
I would love to continue to see new opportunities for our students, whether it be Before/After
school programming, Specials, etc.


What are the most pressing issues facing the district?
My two boys would like me to answer “school lunch”, but I think what is truly pressing is addressing
the landscape of education. School finances are constantly being squeezed in different ways, and
that is always such a tight line to balance. Also, our children are constantly changing in their needs
and ways of learning, which can be extremely challenging to teachers.


What is the best thing about the school in St. Joseph?
Our families and teachers make the heart of St. Joseph schools. We learned this quickly after
choosing St. Joe as the place to start our family. Living here for 18 years, I have seen so many
times in which the school community has come together to both share in celebrations and also
support families in their greatest times of need. We live together. We learn together. We support
each other.


Why should people vote for you?
My years in the classroom, and now in a district office, have given me invaluable insights into the
challenges and opportunities our schools face, and I’m eager to bring that experience to the board
to help shape a positive and effective educational environment for all our students.
How will you make sure you work for the public and are accessible to your constituents?
Having two middle schoolers, we are always out and about talking with other families. It is
important to keep an ear out for what others are saying and to be open to those conversations.
