Homer Lake Forest Preserve, 2573 S Homer Lake Rd, Homer, IL 61849
The Homer Interpretive Center is located right inside the Forest Preserve. The Interpretive Center, located at Homer Lake Forest Preserve, features a variety of interactive exhibits, displays, live animals and a wildlife viewing area.
The Interpretive Center features a display on the Grand Prairie region in Illinois that spans over 30 counties and was formerly occupied primarily by tall grass prairie, marshes, potholes, and woodlands along the rivers. This vast plain, shaped by glaciers and maintained by fire, is now one of the most important agricultural areas in the world.

Swimsuits and towels. The Natural Playscape, which is located inside the preserve, gets kids dirty fast.
The Interpretive Center is open Tuesday-Friday 1 to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Natural Playscape is open during park hours.
Food options:
Picnic tables are available for picnic lunches at the playscape and throughout the preserve.
