St. Joseph Grade School is making some changes to the availability of its parking lot.
The district recently placed letters on vehicles parked in the lot stating the district’s policy on allowing cars to park in school lots was changing.
The letter, written by Superintendent Lance Landeck, said “It has come to my notice, as well as that of members of the board of education, that vehicles have been frequently parked in the Grade School parking lot at 404 S. 5th St.”
The letter goes on to say that the area is designated for parking for the school.
‘’Community members as well as others not associated with the school district parking in this lot creates an inconvenience and safety hazard for students, school employees and school guests.”
The letter goes on to ask the vehicle owners to cooperate with the new policy.
“I kindly request your cooperation in ensuring that vehicles are not parked on school property unless it is for an event. I can’t imagine you would use the parking lot at the grocery store or the post office as your own personal parking lot,” the letter states.
The district is in the process of installing signs that state unauthorized vehicles will be towed.
