The Village of St. Joseph has a plan for storm cleanup.
Residents need to have their storm-damaged limbs and brush to the curb no later than July 10th if they would like it picked up by the village, said Administrator Joe Hackney.
The village will be picking up larger than normal brush during this time.
After July 10th, the normal requirements for brush pick-up will be followed. This means the brush can be no longer than 6 feet long and four inches wide.
Hackney said the village will be going street by street and picking up brush that is located by the curb.
The village will be renting a self-contained burn curtain, which will allow the village to burn the large quantity and size of the brush resulting from the storm. This burning will take place on the east side of the Sports Complex on the farm ground that the village owns.
“We are uncertain how long the burning will take to complete; however, the village intends to expedite this process as much as possible,” Hackney said.
The village has reached out to Champaign County and has requested a massive air burner. Backhoes and dump trucks are being organized by the village, township, and Champaign County.
