February 10, 2026 Local Stories in and Around St. Joseph, Illinois

Live at St. Joseph Village Board , Nov. 22, 2022

Happy Thanksgiving Eve, Eve.

Apparently, they buried a time capsule today but no one told me so….

There was no public comment.

Mary Butzow and Connor Munson are here to discuss their project to digitize the St. Joseph Record. Basically, Mary wants money to digitalize old edition of the St. Joseph Record and the Ogden Courier. The company that would digitize the publication would allow you to search for names, events, ect.

The Champaign County History Museum is spearheading a campaign called the Champaign County Newspaper Digitization Initiative. They need $30,000 to complete the project. At $10,000 they will start digitizing sections. Butzow is saying the value is because you can look up the history of the area, ect. Basically, Butzow is saying what is in a community paper and that is why it is valuable. Village Governments, scouts, social news, and sports. If you are interested in donating you can find the link here.

Connor is hopeful the village will work with them and donate.

Tami is suggesting the village give a donation.

They are discussing insurance for the staff. Their current plan is not being offered anymore. #OHNO #thatisnofun #insuranceissotricky

But there is a similar plan they are discussing right now. The staff will have insurance. I am not going to go into the details because it doesn’t matter to anyone but the staff.

Art has joined us from I am going to guess Florida. (He went there previously for the holidays #LUCKY #isitniceweather?)

GOOD NEWS! The alleyway is almost the high school. #MAKEITHAPPEN The agreement says the high school will work with the village to make the entranceway to the village pretty.

They are discussing the consideration of a resolution allowing for the combination of lots outside of Village Limits for the Bartlow Family. The family does not want to be annexed in but seems to be planning to combine the lots to sell because they told the village to talk to the new owners. They are tabling it until the full board of here.

Apparently, there wasn’t a lot in the time capsule. The last time I saw it there was an article about Ross Booker, a church bulletin, some old photos and some business cards.

THere will be numerous Christmas events starting the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I will write a story and update you.

meeting over.
