Students from Centennial High School and Central High School in Champaign will perform the timeless tale of The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
The musical tells the tale of Quasimodo, a “deformed” man whose beliefs about good and evil are come into question when he meets Esmerelda, a friendly gypsy of whom his master Frollo disapproves.
Having been shut up in the bell tower of Notre Dame his whole life, Quasimodo represents the good and innocent in a dark world as he journeys to answer the question: What makes a monster and what makes a man?
In addition to the with music and dance, many actors use ASL to communicate with one another in addition to spoken lines.
The production is directed by LaDonna Wilson and features actors, crew and musicians from both Central and Centennial.
All performances take place at Centennial High School. The show will take place Feb. 13-15 at 7 p.m. and Feb. 16 at 2:30 p.m.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors.
