Forecasted rain may be changing the location but it won’t change the intent of the Haunted Halloween event on Saturday.
The event, chaired by Mary Derenne, will fund a scholarship in the honor of Murelle Plotner.
Plotner died last December after a battle with myelodysplastic syndrome, a rare blood cancer.
Derenne said she decided to hold the event after talking to Plotner’s parents.
“We thought the best way to keep her memory alive is to create a scholarship fund in her name,” she said.
The scholarship will go to a St. Joseph-Ogden student who is going into the medical field.
Forecasted bad weather made Derenne move the festival from downtown to St. Joseph Middle School.
The event will still include an FFA bake sale, vendors and a silent auction.
“I feel Murelle looking over me many times and smiling her infectious smile and being very happy we are doing this,” Derenne said.
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
